    Pros

Good leadership, very open culture. Many different high-level initiatives, transitions and marketing strategies are shared all the way down to the front lines. Management seems to be truly interested in the success of the employees. Very good opportunity for growth and promotion if your are willing to move for your career.

    Cons

Workload continues to be a challenge in most of the customer facing positions. Volume of claims assignments requires high levels of multitasking skill and efficiency. Sometimes this results in employees simply not having enough time to able to give every customer the best customer service. Management is very aware of this, and it is not a new issue, and despite a certain level of turnover directly related to this, no changes are anticipated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider leveraging the diverse skills of your employees in a team-based claims handling environment:

Allow those that have excellent customer service skills and are good with people to handle the majority of the inbound calls and initial claims handling, and allow the employees who are extremely efficient and have the best analytical skills to handle the majority of claims resolution.

Don't lose one employee who can't keep up with the workload but is really good with customers, and then turn around another employee who gets the job done on time every time but is a customer service train-wreck. Instead, put these two together as a team and let each contribute the most in their area of respective skill.

I have been working at Progressive Insurance full-time

    Pros

The training onboarding was great. They did a good job of training you and making you think that you were on to something great. If you are into free lunches, the company is great at feeding you practically once a week. (It's so you can be expected to work through lunch, by the way.)

    Cons

Work flexibility is a joke. It's advertised but never given. The company waits until 12 people quit in a 5 month period before they consider hiring people. (And they never bother to think that maybe it's management that has so many people quitting at once! ) Hiring is a joke also since Progressive offers about $10,000 less a year than other insurance companies for most positions. Don't think you will get a raise anytime soon either. Most people get less than the rate of inflation a year and that's a big fat IF they even score one. Many people go years without a raise around here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit forcing employees to steer customers to using Progressive body shops and fix the math on the surveys. Employees should not have to dig out of a hole just because someone had a bad experience with someone other than the file owner or because we didn't extend a rental or something. No wonder why corporate is fighting off class action suits. They will keep coming in unless you change the treatment of employees.
