I have been working at Prudential Overall Supply full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Family-owned, small-feel, decent benefits (401k with matching contributions and couple different insurance options), advancement opportunities available including in-house "management potential training program."

Cons

For a smaller-to-medium size business, too many politics! Also, at one location, chummy-but-inexperienced middle management promotions cause unnecessary strife and demoralization due to poor or self-serving decisions (perhaps this is an isolated issue).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the working class: long-term, experienced employees as well as newer hires with fresh insights.

Great company to work for but the benefits could be better.

I have been working at Prudential Overall Supply full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Family owned, well established, been around 80 years. Great support from upper management. Management very thin at the top, not a lot of red tape or politics to deal with.

    Cons

They need to offer better benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Better the benefits that are offered.

I worked at Prudential Overall Supply full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

This is the most well-intentioned company I worked for as it relates to sales training, customer relations, etc.

    Cons

There are 'intentions' and then there's the reality of the market. Prudential clearly has a well established reputation in southern California, BUT it became very clear, very quickly, that their near anonymity when navigating in markets well established by Cintas, Aramark, etc. only serves to their detriment. (The training they provided helped one navigate well within the Prudential world, but provided nothing when it came to addressing the competition.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to apply the California template to other markets, especially Texas; we're different for a reason, here, and the template does not translate. Take off those darned dress shirts, ties, etc in favor of attire that's far more casual, when dealing with customer prospects; why would you go into a mechanic shop in a tie? (It only screams "SALESMAN!!!!") Provide information as part of the training program that deals with the market's key competition. Incorporate competitive analysis in the sales training period, and make it an ongoing part of employee development.
