I worked at Public Storage

Pros

Your able to work alone, and DM would work with time paid off

Cons

you will never advance past being a Property Manager which is no different from a relief manger. Your harassed by upper management to remember stupid scrpits word for word.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get into the stores and know what its really like. improve your benefits and stop giving out 10 cent raises to your long term employees.

Hours, recession-resistant business, very little manual labor, on-site apartment

Low pay, no opportunities for advancement, management rules by intimidation not motivation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer at least the slight chance of advancement to the District Manager level.

I have been working at Public Storage

    Pros

Entry level salary and gauranteed first year bonus is a plus. Initial stock offerring and 3 year vesting is beneficial.

    Cons

There is no balance between work and life. You are on call 24 hours a day and expected to look at your phone every 30 minutes to make sure you did not miss a call, text or an e-mail(even Saturday and Sunday). Management continues to add to the workload with no consideration for family or time off. Management promotes and demotes with no rhyme or reason behind their decisions. Their motto is "We Care", but unfortunately it is only about the bottom line. The new motto should be "Do Not Care" for employees or customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take your employees into consideration. At the end of the day, they are the success or failure of all companies.
