The house where dreams come true?

Senior Manager (Current Employee)
Port Washington, NY

I have been working at Publishers Clearing House

ProsStill some good people working there; fewer and further between, though. Competitive compensation package. On-site food service, free coffee, cheap magazines, free soap.

ConsMorale is terrible, because of multiple layoffs this year. Executives speak of developing PCH into a multi-channel marketer, but seem to lack any vision of what it means to do so. There has been a turnover of certain key leadership positions, but the results have been laughable. One recent c-level acquisition runs the department as though it is their own private club - eliminating the positions of experienced people, while creating positions for there personal friends. Direct mail is still the main source of revenue, but upper management devalues those responsible for running this part of business while lauding praise and rewards on those running the online business - which really is not much of a business (unless you consider running silly gaming sites to be a viable business model).

Advice to Senior ManagementTake the time to figure out what you want the company to be, invest the time and resources to do things properly, make a plan and stick to it. Stop compensating for your failings by throwing out good people into a bad job market - man up and make some sacrifices.
