I have been working at Publix part-time for less than a year

Pros

Publix aims to hire the best, so they offer a stellar benefits package, education program, and many opportunities for advancement. They hire managers from within, and they outline a path for you to follow to achieve advancement, if you want it. Because of their efforts to be the best, they have an excellent reputation in the community, so customers are nicer, and more appreciative than they are in other businesses I've worked in. The managers I've worked with are very fair and reasonable. The work environment is very clean, friendly, and familial.

Cons

I don't see this as a con, but many do. You will work hard for your money. The work is fast paced, and sometimes difficult.

I have been working at Publix full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Pay and benefits are really good compared to other retail companies.

    Cons

They will be expected to work harder, be more professional and provide better customer service than other retailers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Always stay busy. There is always something that needs to be done in your department. Don't procrastinate and or waste time standing around talking. If waste time and put something off till the next day (murphy's law) the next day something bad will happen ie (an employee will call out). Then you will fall farther behind and not get the previous days task done. Then it a domino affect. You will fall farther and farther behind and eventually lose your job.

I worked at Publix part-time for more than a year

    Pros

flexible schedule, people are generally nice, fairly happy customers given the customer service oriented mindset of Publix, events were fun to run & participate in

    Cons

management can be cliquey, when i worked there it was difficult for those who wanted full-time to get full-time (instead, management would space hours out to ensure most people fell into a middle ground that made them part-time, to avoid giving benefits)
