I have been working at Pulte Homes full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great co-workers. Good culture. Freedom and the autonomy to do your work as needed. Managers do not micromanage. Company does an annual engagement survey where employees have the ability to (anonymously) tell management what they think. The company has survived the downturn and is starting to ramp up again. There will be more opportunities for growth and advancement in the future.

    Cons

Industry has been hit hard by the recession. Currently doing more with less. Training programs and employee development budgets not what they used to be.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your staff. Many people are burned out trying to keep everything going.

I have been working at Pulte Homes full-time

    Pros

Dedicated, talented employees; decent benefits; work-life balance; improving with transparency of internal communications and improving processes to be more value-driven

    Cons

Lack of career development and advancement opportunities; management very fickle in terms of direction Company is going; operations and processes constantly changing; very slow to react to homebuilding economic crisis

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider internally if there might be a good candidate for a position within the Company before recruiting externally. Work to provide employees with career development opportunities such as rotations and cross-training across departments and improve the annual review process. Very much appreciate the steps that have been taken to improve employee morale, but would really appreciate a social event once in a great while such as a holiday party or outing. Even a group volunteer event, something to bring employees together and improve the culture at the company. For employees who have joined with the company since the downturn, we have not had an opportunity to interact with our coworkers outside of work and experience the "Pulte family".
