This was the best carrier choice I ever made - to join PwC Management Consulting ( before the IBM acquisition).

I worked at PwC full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Intrelligent people, top quality product/output, top pay and a literal growing field of new knowledge and experiential learning. Flat organizational structure. Empowered people at all levels. Exciting and creative environment.

Cons

So much travel and time spent away from the family made work life balance very difficult.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Project managers were weak in people/organizational management.

    Pros

    Great training.
Work with smart colleagues from around the world.
Excellent opportunities to work on projects with some of the largest corporations in the world.
Able to switch from assurance to tax to advisory.
    Excellent technologies.

    Cons

    Some engagements require long hours.
Long hours can prevent maintaining work/life balance.
Some project teams that have been together for a long time can be cliquish.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. As the economy continues to improve, look for new ways to grow the firm.

I have been working at PwC full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Get to put a Big 4 firm on the resume

    Cons

Hours, hours, hours. South Florida is so badly managed that they are always short staffed. Each year they say they have a plan to get enough people, but it never happens. After 6 years, I was tired of their stories and the corporate Kool-Aid had a bitter taste. After years of promoting work / life balance they should just admit they are lying and say there is none.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually do something about the staffing issues rather than throwing insignificant "perks" like a gym membership at the staff to stay. What good is a gym membership if you are working too much to be able to use it? Fire all South Florida HR because they obviously don't know what they are doing. I was in a different PwC market and they knew how to staff, so it isn't a firm-wide thing. Its that Florida is managed poorly.
