Pros

Opportunities to work on areas that would take someone going directly into the industry from school a while before they would get exposure. Lots of recruiting to big 4 companies, easily marketable. PwC is probably the best public company out there. I work in San Jose, so we get exposure to neat companies.

Cons

Low salaries for what you contribute and the overtime you typically incur, and its not just for new associates. Basically, everyone but the partners are underpaid by a mile, but all big 4 are like this. Partners often too concerned about their budget that they give little attention to the money makers behind the budget. Big company, big office, lots of politics. "Diversity" rules the office, company.

Advice to Management

Listen to your employees.

    Pros

The Company offers great benefits to the employees. These include a large vacation balance, paid Firm closures, medical, dental, pension, 401(k), etc. With working in Non-Client Serving roles the Internal Firm Services departments are being strongly encouraged to telecommute. This allows our teams to work from home 2-3 days a week, which helps out immensely with work-life balance. Everyone in the Company works to be flexible in any way they can, whether you need to take time off or change your work schedule. Great core values and ethics.

    Cons

With working in the Non-Client Serving side of the company there was very limited earning potential and very hard to advance. This is understandable, as there are only "x" amount of back house roles needed when only "x" amount of market share is held. This just made advancing your career a lot longer than expected and kept you stuck in a salary range.

    Advice to Management

Build better career advancement paths within IFS.

    Pros

Good People for the most part, chances of getting a mentor are good

    Cons

Opaque review process, some people are always favourites

    Advice to Management

Make the review process more transperent, including why some people are favored. All it takes is knowledge transfer as to why some people are prefered, it may be that they are genuinely talented. If so then let the world know.
