Pros

Progressive, entrepreneurial environment, constantly evolving, benefits are good. I worked with many smart, well educated professionals and developed enduring friendships with many of them. I can't say that about any prior employer.

Cons

High pressure, unspoken overtime expectation, very political, off shoring as many jobs as possible. Unless you work in Assurance, Advisory or Tax, it's not at all as great a place to work as it once was (for IFS staff).

Advice to Management

Stop undervaluing IFS staff.

    Pros

    - Work-life flexibility is big. Your team will work with you to ensure your personal life isn't ignored. - Networking: Access to amazing clients - Fortune 100 to some of the most innovative private companies. - You can focus on pretty much any sector. - Lot of internal opportunities for growth - Great benefits and perks

    Cons

    - Staffing / turnover - Regulated business - A lot of stuff gets pushed down from national about how to do x or y - Depending on the group you are in, work can become mundane / routine - Unrealistic budgets

    Advice to Management

With the recent push to standardize work product, don't forget that "judgment" is hard to standardize. We shouldn't be filling in templates to make it seem like we did something a certain way. Let people use their judgement and defend their positions based on auditing standards. Continue to focus on work-life flexibility and let your staff have insight into why they are being asked to do x or y. It helps increase ownership into the end product.

    Pros

Work with smart people, work with the top companies in all industries, learn a lot, job opportunities after. Lots of opportunities to learn and volunteer outside of engagements. Able to switch into different departments of the company pretty easily. Great opportunities to travel for work and to work abroad.

    Cons

Work ridiculously long hours without pay that compensates for all the time working. Run across a lot of sad people working. No work-life balance. Not much room for creativity.

    Advice to Management

Having more flexible work-hour arrangements (working from home, every-other Friday off, etc) may improve.
