I worked at PwC

Pros

PWC is large firm, leader in the industry, a large reputable customer base. The calibar of employees is excellent, providing the ability to learn every day from co-workers and from interactions with clients in multiple industries. Performance expectations are high, so you are consistently working with the best. Although a large firm, there was the ability to do things at a local level to make change happen to improve the environment and business results locally. I worked at PWC when work/life balance programs were getting started and there was an openness to new ways of doing things.

Cons

Large. Need to use your internal network effectively to advance career.

I have been working at PwC

    Pros

good benefits, free comprehensive physical health exams (every 3 years for <35 years old, every year >35). get a good experience in working with teams and work with many companies in many different industries. Global work opportunities for senior associates and above.

    Cons

salary may seem reasonable, but for the hours that you work, pay is really low. by going into industry, you could easily make 50% more doing the same job you do at PwC, but with less pressure. Managers have their favorite staff that they like to use on their engagements, while some staff are more or less left out in the cold. Expectations are that staff are to perform the work and develop business (which should be the responsibility of management), but not get paid accordingly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop trying to make the staff do your work (e.g. develop business)

I have been working at PwC

    Pros

Variety of projects and clients to work on. Get some great opportunities to work with both the partners and directors within PwC but also upper management at clients. The training and benefits are great, a descent amount of social events help keep everybody happy during busy seasons.

    Cons

The amount of hours worked is inconsequential, everybody is expected to work a lot of overtime. Your life is generally determined by the managerial skills of the people above you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a better atmosphere to allow seniors and associates to guide their own path.
