Current Employee - Senior Associate - Advisory in McLean, VA
Current Employee - Senior Associate - Advisory in McLean, VA

I have been working at PwC full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Retirement Benefits, Milestone benefits, Salary, Career Opportunity. In addition to these items PwC Partners will truly fight for their people in down times and make an effort to not lay anyone off. Excellent brand to have on your resume.

Cons

400 hours over standard required. Metrics outdated and do not account for all job requirements and situations. While there are many opportunities to work with people who are excellent in their fields there are an equal number of opportunities to work with career bureaucrats who offer no value. Also ability to keep up with technology internally very poor.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trim the fat and get workers up to date on what's going on in other markets. There are many PwC employees completely out of touch with reality because they only work in their little segment and opportunities are lost because these people are unable to cross network effectively.

    Pros

Managers and above are enrolled in Pension Plan.
Nice benefits which includes compelling vacation time
Work culture is different and better than at BearingPoint
Practice takes your career aspirations or areas of focus into consideration before staffing you on a project. This is quite the opposite at BearingPoint.

    Cons

No defined bonus at Manager level.
Firm practices are still old school
Technology practice is not as strong as BearingPoint
    Not strong in project delivery
The leaders who came from BearingPoint and joined PwC still operate in a staff augmentation mode.

I worked at PwC as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Price Waterhouse Coopers offers a great career track and terrific learning opportunities. It depends on the team, but the culture is generally good. The size allows for great opportunities as well.

    Cons

Due to the size it may feel like you are small fish in a big pond at times. While there is lip service toward developing inside talent, it may not always be put into action.
