I have been working at PwC as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Very structured professional development. Lots of opportunities for growth. A lot of mobility. Very large organization, and nice people. Senior management was very nice as well. Great place to start out of college.

Cons

Work/life balance is difficult; Focus is typically on advisory and assurance divisions - there are a lot of others that people don't know about.

Horrible place to work as a contractor or temp

I worked at PwC full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Great name and reputation within the industry

    Cons

Contractors receive nothing and are looked upon with disdain. There is a definite gulf when it comes to full time employees and contractors. Your work life is quite precarious and stressful as contracts can be cancelled at a moments notice

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Care a bit more for the contractors who are working very hard for the Firm and rethink the policy of treating them like second class, disposable bodies.

PWC - Constantly changing yet still the same

I worked at PwC full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Lots of work, and clients.

    Cons

    Medical care has gotten worst
Day Care is not free like other big firms. You have to pay 25 dollars per child per day at Bright Horizons.
No such thing as tenure at the firm for lower level staff.
HR Managers only catch up to say hello to staff, and pop in and out whenver they feel like it.
Favoritism, and politics is rampant throughout the firm
Lots of turnover at all levels.
Firm is always reengineering the performance process but at the end, it's all conducted behind closed doors, and favorites are always praised and others are left in the cold.
You can do all the right things and it will not always be appreciated, it's all up to your supervisor. PWC has a lot of supervisors and managers who are not good at coaching and not able to put themselves in someone else's shoe.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen and care about your employees no matter what you think, or what you have heard. It is the employees who help you make money and save money.
We are in a global economy, invest in diversity. Promote diverse people from different backgrounds and different mindset.
Challenge each other instead of everyone kissing up to their boss/partner.
