I have been working at PwC

Pros

PwC provides a great learning environment filled with many young smart working professionals. The idea of beginning work with 50 new hires in one's start class is always a nice thing.

Cons

Work life balance is really non-existent although it is advertised incessantly. However, prospective accountants should probably know what they are getting themself into.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

An increase in pay might be a good idea in order to retain your employees. Overall, great job in navigating through the recession.

    Pros

You are presented with incredible opportunities to advance and network with people from all over the country. Advancement opportunities and plentiful.

    Cons

This is public accounting and it is demanding. That being said, you must learn how to balance your work and life - the opportunity to do so is there, you just have the make it work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is in a real tough position due to the intensive workloads and demanding metrics they must live up to. My groups management was superior and I would not change a thing.

    I worked at PwC

    Pros

The training and experience gained is invaluable. People in industry recognize that if you have worked at PwC then you have the experience and knowledge they want. It is easy to find a job once you are ready to leave.

    Cons

It is public accounting, so of course, the downside is the amount of hours you are required to work. I also got tired of the travel involved. It also seemed like over time, you were required to work more and more, yet you got recognized less for what you contributed. There are plenty of opportunities for advancement, but they tend to advance some people whether they are ready or not. It is certainly an up or out culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Streamline some admin processes so that employees can spend more time doing their jobs rather than completing forms, timesheets, reviews, etc.
