I worked at QEP Resources full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very easy days. Employees are asked to do virtually nothing. 9/80 work schedule essentially amounts to 15 hours of actual work for most people.

    Cons

It's like they're actively looking for people who are so lazy they can hardly move. None of the older people ever do any actual work. The typical work day for most includes following: Show up thirty minutes late, talk to friends, eat donuts, sit at a desk and google some stuff, get up to get a drink of water, talk to friends by water cooler, complain about how they are working you to death, go to lunch, complain about needing to fill out an expense report, leave early to go to the dr. for a check up (assuming it isn't the Thursday before the Fridays off, in that case everyone leaves at 11:00 anyways).

Yet, they refuse to promote or train their hardest workers because they need more "experience". Experience doing what? The younger harder-workers have gained more experience in a week than the older people have in their twenty year careers, because they do absolutely nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start over! Promote the people who work hard and fire the people who do nothing. Pay for production, instead of paying the elderly and frail more because of their age.
