I have been working at QVC as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Lots of cushy perks, free snacks many days and lots of time off after 90 day orientation period. Very easy to learn but difficult to perfect. Many people stay for even decades because of the higher quality insurance and 401k benefits. Can surf the web in between calls as well as text on the floor. Great Cafeteria with plenty of seating, as well as large HDTV televisions constantly on popular shows and channels to watch during breaks. You can also dine out on their massive back deck with a wonderful view.

    Cons

Talk time is a constant overhanging element adding pressure to all of your calls, to the point where a talkative or slow customer cant lead to extreme headaches. The headaches result from the anxiety of the thought that they will fire you if call Handling time is not kept at a standard average. Also, can get extremely busy during the holidays, requiring the company to request "required" days, making the 5 day work week 6 days on many nov. and dec. weeks. They do count it as overtime at least. Have to work on thanksgiving but given holiday pay. It is difficult to actually acquire a permanent position due to the lack of turnover, but possible, one just needs to be hired during the aug. sept. months in order to even get on a seasonal basis, which lasts till january. Hopefully, your numbers meet up and you can score permanent status.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More help/training with how to manage talk time in various situations would be greatly appreciated. Other than that, very supportive and open.
