Pros

QNA provides a family-oriented atmosphere and is dedicated to taking care of their employees. They provide the highest quality of benefits and personal time off. The greatest asset is the quality of personnel they hire and, most importantly, the trust they give to each one.

Cons

The only con is that QNA depends upon contracts awarded from government entities. There are times when QNA must downsize their team when a contract is renewed. Generally, they will realign an employee to another contract, but sometimes they have no choice, but to let the individual go.

Advice to Management

No matter what the circumstance or how large the company grows, always continue to provide the family-oriented atmosphere that is currently the hallmark of QNA.

    Pros

There is some really interesting work going on in the line units. The company is full of smart, friendly employees that are dedicated to the work and the customers. My direct supervisor is a very competent leader and a great guy all around. He values the insights of his employees and works hard to get them and their work recognized by senior management.

    Cons

Poor communications by senior management perpetuates a constant rumor mill. Since the major spending spree of by QinetiQ Group from 2004-2006, the acquisitions are still being integrated and periodic layoffs continue. This has led to great uncertainty and job insecurity among the employees. Additionally, the lack of investment in core infrastructure services also presents a great source of frustration and inefficiency. As a result, QinetiQ continues to lose good employees to the competition.

    Advice to Management

If you want to better the competition, don't become like them. Remember that a services company's primary source of income is generated by its employees. In the government contracting world, if they are unhappy, so are your customers and your competitors will know it. A little communication goes a long way.

    Pros

Able to learn new skills in fast paced environment. Interesting projects and work with very dedicated smart team members. Close proximity to home.

    Cons

Chaotic work enviroment. Consistent lack of resources to get job done, which resulted in putting in many many evening and weekend hours with no end in sight. Low on customer service skills.

    Advice to Management

Customer service focus is critical to growing from a small to mid-size company. Work with employees to right-size workload. Strive to maintain continuity with resources on a project.
