Great until they decide your unit isn't in the company's future. Reputation for valuing employees is overhyped...

Pros

Word of mouth on Qualcomm is great. The pay, bonuses, benefits, etc., are all great while it lasts. Emphasis on "while it lasts". Technology moves quick, and as soon as your department is not a part of the company's future plans, that's a wrap for you.

Cons

The key to Qualcomm is never winding up in a division that isn't in the company's future. As soon as that occurs, Qualcomm will prevent you from interviewing for other divisions, and sell you off like knick knacks at a flea market to the first buyer that comes along. For a company that has a reputation for valuing employees, turns out they do all the same things everyone else does. I guess there's no loyalty anywhere anymore.

I have been working at Qualcomm full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Internal training and opportunity to rotate and create a career path. great benefits and Flexibility. Management trusts you to do your job and gives you freedom to manage time. Very conscious of community image and ethics.

    Cons

slackers are allowed to hang around too long. People take advantage of the employee friendly culture

    Advice to Management

Work to reward the true superstars, average employees also get the perks of bonus, stock etc., and don't put in the effort. Can be demoralizing to those who are dong the work. HR doesn't support mgt on personnel issues.

I have been working at Qualcomm as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

They are very generous to the interns. The salary is comparable to the full position. They take care of everything, from transportation to accommodation. They arrange lots of activities for the interns to build the network. The recruiting staffs are very helpful and friendly. You get to work with many talented interns coming from different universities. You will be working on a practical problem that actually makes a difference (if it worked) comparing to writing a paper that nobody cares.

    Cons

I can't really think of any cons. Some people do not have enough guidance from their mentors because their mentors are busy. But it really depends on your luck.
