    I worked at Qualys

    Pros

Most of the people in the trenches are great to work with.
    Good benefits.

    Cons

Quite possibly the oldest "startup" in the valley.
    Forced quarterly meeting on Saturdays.
Management is staffed with long-time friends of the CEO and equally inept family members.
No work/life balance. The company mantra is "work harder".
    No amenities to speak of.
    Pay is below market value.
The bonus program is a joke.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit treating your employees like cattle.
Quit letting "rockstars" who have no management skills run things.
Fire just about every manager in engineering and start over.

I have been working at Qualys

    Pros

    Security is hot right now.
Lots of big companies use the product, so it looks good on your resume.
    Decent co-workers.

    Cons

    Projects starting but never finishing.
Exceptionally poor management...managers get fired too quickly.
Many projects get started and never finished.
Very political environment when dealing with management. Especially in engineering.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit fooling yourselves. SaaS is old tech and you missed your chance about 5 years ago. Try innovating again. Expand into services. Quit firing managers and keeping dead weight because they happen to be friends and family.
