Pros

product really is the leader in the Vulnerability Management space, work environment is what you actively try and make of it... there are really good people there, if they end of staying... company usually does have a nice holiday party - also when it comes to company represented industry events like RSA, they spend loads of cash to get the name out there

Cons

honestly... the single worst deal with this company, which effects MANY parts of this organization is the CEO... Philippe is a very smart, visionary, but his management skills are lacking, the same way a dog is actually lacking a pair of arms... being in a sales role, he consistently berates sales people and always makes a point to say how worthless they are by always sitting there asking what the company can do for them, instead of what they can do for the company... REALITY CHECK PFC - these people drive business and as long as you continue that mentality your company will continue to grow with an average of 15% like it has been lately... its in the numbers.. Secondly, the expansion of their product suites has just NOT delivered which is proof in their latest S-1 that 80% of their business strictly comes from their VM product, which again, still rock the house and is a phenom product

Advice to Management

Good luck in dealing with PFC... he may hire you one day and fire you the next... i can't even count on all my fingers and toes the number of times we brought in a solid new hire resource with great industry experience at an executive level, and a couple days/weeks later, they were fired for some undisclosed reason... again, you guys have a great product and you usually hire great people... something i learned at a GREAT company before... they had a list of company tenants, and one of them was "Hire the best and trust them" - in other words, place your confidence in them to do their job... good luck on your upcoming IPO and hopefully PFC leaves and a REAL captain takes over the ship... sorry PFC, you are THE reason many people leave... willingly, not the ones you oust like a smelly pile of garbage in the kitchen

    Pros

They keep giving me good raises, bumping me to higher roles or offering me new positions within the company.
    Never had layoffs or downsizing.
There are some rockstar engineers / sys admins who stick with the company and are great to learn from. Qualys has even allowed a few key engineers to work remotely when they move out of state.
The Qualysguard product suite is solid and the customer base is very loyal and diverse.
The CEO is a recognized visionary in the security space and he has successfully predicted the rise of WAS and compliance.

    Cons

    No 401k match.
    No cell phone stipend.
Some 'growing pains' as company grows from small to large.
Too much churn in middle management, can't seem to hold on to good PMs.
Some of the positions that are filled overseas are a waste of time.
A lot of churn in operations department which creates more stress for existing operations people and problems for the whole company.

    Advice to Management

Realize that overseas positions often create more hassle then results.
Find a way to hold onto middle management.
Reduce churn in operations department by reducing on-call work (create larger teams), pay industry competitive salaries and find a better work/life balance.
