Quantum Corporation – “Crushing Debt, Main Market in Decline, but Delightful Deduping Disk Devices”

Pros

Compensation OK. Good Colleagues. Boulder facility is nice. Some of my managers were laid back and provided resources to complete our projects. ADIC culture's higher regard for quality improved Quantum after the merger.

If you are working on the disk-based archiving devices in California, you're golden.

Cons

Still thinks it is a big company, although it has significantly reduced in size in the last few years; thus, still some surprising bureaucracy in places. There is constant pressure to cut costs in order to deal with our out-of-favor markets involving tape storage. Quantum + ADIC merger of three years ago has turned Quantum into essentially just ADIC, but with 1/2 Billion dollars of debt.

If you are working on tape drives or libraries at Quantum, better hope that they are still giving out severance packages when they let you go.
