I have been working at Quintiles full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Interesting industry. Potential if management can "healthily" mature.

    Cons

Values such as integrity, strong work ethics, in-depth/detailed engagement, and dedication are being replaced with a focus on "looking good" and strategizing to "position".

Newly introduced performance ranking system combined with staff-disengaged management is driving top performers/high-value employees to competitors and other industries. Performance ranking system also naturally encourages management to either retain low performers or issue low ratings to high performers to fill in blanks on rating scale.

Expectation is that company tenure will be negatively impacted by costly attrition as those choosing to "work" instead of "position" and "self-promote" seek employment elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sustainable environment that fosters long term skilled staff yields greater returns in the long run. Don't be afraid to "manage" and speak up about challenges you now face in a system that impedes your ability to successfully manage and positively impact the company. Pull together to redirect the urge to "self-promote" to survive shifting focus to creating an environment that enables success for all areas, customers, and staff.
