I have been working at Quintiles as a contractor (more than a year)

Pros

Short term contracts help you to remain employed. If you don't like what you are doing, just wait it out a bit, and your contract will change. Great work-life balance! Opportunity to learn new things, and try new positions. So many pharma companies are now going contract that this looks like a good place to be for the foreseeable future.

Cons

Contract can end abruptly, (but it can anywhere I guess). Seems to be a game to keep telling people that the contract will extend, just to keep people in their current positions and not have turnover, but it is really not based on anything concrete. Each contract can be drastically different--your pay can go way up or down, benefits can change drastically, with each contract. Quintiles and contracted company are not always on the same page--can make work relationships challenging. Can't move to a better contract or higher pay while on a contract.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to negotiate longer term contract. Gets real irritating to continue to hear that "your contract will probably be extended". Creates mis-trust after the first few months of hearing this, and then not seeing it. Continue the great work-lift balance. x

I worked at Quintiles full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in being able to work remotely in addition to being on-site. Good benefits available.

    Cons

Compensation was low compared to experience, and workspace kept getting smaller and smaller (cubeville).

I have been working at Quintiles

    Pros

Great environment to learn about the pharmaceutical world, clinical research and how important drug development means to our health. Wonderful staff from executive level to all support staff. Company that use to believe in people and their work life balance(work at home and flexible schedules).

    Cons

Support staff don't get same development training that management, sales and clinical research staff are afforded. MASS LAYOFFS!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Company has changed in its down to earth, executive to support staff welcoming environment. Corporate culture was such a great incentive for current staff to stay and those looking for great company to work for to look at Quintiles to apply.
