R.C. Willey – “They Pay You Less Every Year on Purpose”
2 of 2 people found this helpfulPros
The job is not stressful, unless you can't sell.
Sundays off.
The employee discount is good.
The sales staff is fun to work with.
$30K-$80K a year depending on how well you sell. (used to be a lot more but it's still pretty good)
Cons
I have to sell more to make less every year! Thanks to Scott Hymas we no longer get vendor paid spiffs on appliances or TV's, this takes about $5K-$20K a year away from the sales staff. On top of that they are always cutting commissions. I have Consistently lost $5K a year every year (That's just commissions not including spiffs!)
They don't care about their employees.
There is low morale among the employees.
Upper Management is unable to motivate sales people.
Advice to Senior Management
Please start to respect your employees. Please bring back vendor paid spiffs!
RC Willey has a few things over their competition: Sales People that are knowledgeable, Most things are in stock, Very Very good delivery department, and in house lending.
However they are doing their best to ruin it: Constantly paying sales people less. Charging for delivery when competition doesn't, and the buyers are not keeping things in stock like they used to. They make good, long time, customers who never had a late payment re-apply for credit when it's really unnecessary.
