Great place to work, but not enough variety.

I have been working at R/GA

Pros

The work environment is quite laid back. The employees are great. The work is generally top notch. Compensation is very fair. Great parties.

Cons

Account structure means most people work on only one account at a time, so variety of work is lacking. Somewhat difficult to be promoted from within.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let more employees help out on pitchwork. Give employees more flexibility to work outside of their home account.

    I worked at R/GA

    Pros

From a strictly professional standpoint, if you work at R/GA, especially in a creative capacity, you will have the chance to do great work, build your book, and win some awards. Also, you'll get to work with truly innovative people that if you are lucky, you will touch base with down the road on bigger and better projects.

    Cons

If you want to have no personal life than work for R/GA. The hours are crazy, they expect you to commit every fiber of your being, personal life be damned. A lot of people get burned out and there is a sense of smugness in some of the people there. If you didn't go to the right school or aren't into the latest, micro-trend you might get looked down on.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide a better environment for personal improvement, everyone can get better with a little guidance, it shouldn't always be sink or swin.

I have been working at R/GA

    Pros

The work can be interesting and innovative. The people are smart and fun to work with. There's a surprisingly small number of ego-centric jerks, and most people are humble and down to earth.

Your checks won't bounce! Get on the right account and you'll fill your resume up with awards.

    Cons

The buildings are in really bad shape and the work areas are depressing, dirty and sweat-shop-like. Once you get placed on an account, it's very hard to move. A lot of the work is slogging through very dry, low level pages of corporate websites. Not particularly focused on building memorable consumer experiences.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The company is pretty big but it feels like it's still trying to be run like a small shop.
