Dedicated co-workers, fun environment, privately owned, great benefits

Cons

Good-old boy network, management is more focused on creating benefits for themself and close friends, instead of providing leadership for the company. Business continues to decline, competition is winning the game

Advice to ManagementAdvice

When you bring in consultants to evaluate the current state of the business, dig deeper into the organization to learn the reality....

    Pros

    Worked in IS&S. Nice benefits. Great Technical Managers. Smart developers. Enjoyed the projects and new tools used to document and develop apps.

    Cons

    Competition is running up Polk's backside. Attention to details and usability in applications will make or break them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You can have the best code and technology in the world. However, users evaluate on what they see and experience. Look and feel and usability are critical or competition will eat your lunch.

    Pros

    Company works hard to provide a competitive work environment, in house gym, telecommuting opportunities, good benefits, and most positions have a good work/live balance.

    Cons

    Senior leadership lacks vision and doesn't communicate well. Staff reductions has severly limited career growth opportunities at Polk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Clearly define the corporate vision, communicate it to the organization and include the employees in the plans for growth.
