I have been working at R.R. Donnelley

Pros

Ample vacation. Nice co-workers. Salary + Overtime.

Cons

Abusive salespeople. Inaccessible management. Ill-defined career paths. Most positions are filled externally instead of promoted from within. No training.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within. Reinstate profit sharing and 401K match. Properly train employees in new technologies. Define career paths. Engage employees.

I have been working at R.R. Donnelley

    Pros

Getting to work with some great co-workers. New ideas are always welcomed and encouraged. Management is flexible when time off is needed.

    Cons

Compensation does not seem par for the course when looking around at other large corporations. Raises and bonuses are not in-line with the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For such a large company that makes so many acquisitions by absorbing smaller companies, it would be nice if they treated their employees financially better.

I have been working at R.R. Donnelley

    Pros

Unless you have worked here for 20+ years there aren't many pro's. Since raises aren't performance based you don't have to necessarily do a good job to get a raise.

    Cons

No advancement, you can't move up unless you become a manager. There isn't any sort of tuition reimbursement. Raises aren't based on performance. There's too much red tape to get your job done in a timely manner. Employee's aren't held accountable for their performance which leads to even more red tape. Unless you've been with the company for many years its very difficult to get vacation during the summer. No 401K match.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire people who actually know how to manage and actually have a management degree. Stop putting unneeded checks and processes at the end of the production cycle when the problem starts at the beginning.
