I have been working at REI part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Great communication with management, fabulous work-life balance, benefits for part-time, schedule flexibility, ability to make decisions on your own--no micro management

Cons

My only gripe is the pressure to sell memberships.

Advice to Management

I couldn't ask for better managers and supervisors. I've worked at many different places so I have a lot of comparison and I truly can't think of a single thing.

I have been working at REI full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Truly NICE people Wealth of customer data to make smart decisions Strong culture of ethics, integrity, stewardship

    Cons

Leadership is slow to respond to changes in market Extremely difficult to get promoted Base pay is lower than average, but bonuses can sometimes make up for it Massive influx of new people is weakening the employee culture

    Advice to Management

Be more careful who you hire Spend more money on marketing If you lose the employee culture, you will lose the soul of the company. Put emphasis back on hiring from within.
