I worked at REI Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

Some really nice hardworking people (who deserve better)
Supportive of education and training that provides better skills for employees

Cons

The most unprofessional management team I have ever experienced, starting from the executive management on down. They hire a lot of HIB visa holders, and have no respect for a decent work-life balance, but cover this up with a lot of phony "corporate culture" speak that glorifies a work environment where bad management is ignored, or worse, rewarded, if you are able to get your staff to keep working harder and harder not smarter. Managers are promoted from within without a lot of support or mentoring because the senior staff are completely overleveraged or lack relevant experience themselves so they can't help. The end result is a lot of overtime and stress for the poor staff trying to do the work. The company says that its competitors are big tier 1 companies, which indicates how out of touch and arrogant the executive management is if they think they measure up to these companies. This company is on a downward spiral with no management vision or employee policies to shore it up. If you are absolutely desperate for a job, then take one with them, but keep looking - you'll be glad you did.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace the entire management team if you want to compete with the companies you say you do in your corporate write up. Stop killing the messengers.

    Continuous growth, competitive salaries and benefits, great work culture, and positive work environment.

    None that I can truly think of.

    I worked at REI Systems full-time

    Pros

    - very friendly coworkers
    - you will meet few very smart people
    - upper management is hands on and tries to re-enforce a healthy culture
    - depending on the project, you will get exposed and experienced

    Cons

    -on most projects , 40 hr weeks do not cut it , you need to put 50-60 hrs to be in good terms with the managers, leaving after working 8 hrs will raise eyebrows around you.
    - on most projects, it is expected that you work on weekends when necessary, your personal time WILL be sacrificed to impress the client, you are expected to embrace this culture
    - if you don't know how much you are worth in the market, they will take advantage of you
    - if the PM over promised the client , you will pay the price to fulfill unrealistic expectations. you will have to put your personal time to cover up for the PMs mistakes, some PMs will also try to make it your fault so you feel obliged to work 80 hr weeks to catch up.
    - PMs usually only care about the project profit to impress the upper managers, although not uncommon, but it goes to the extreme.
    - Sometimes you will feel like an independent contractor where no one cares about your career path or well being .
    - maybe around 8 out of 10 employees are on H1 visa, that influences the work culture and salaries (usually h1 visa employees are more desperate and tolerate abuse in terms of work hrs or compensation)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Mid level managers need serious work, and do not expect your employees to stay loyal to the company if they feel abused.
