I have been working at REI Systems full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

1. I respect REI's CEO. He is gem of a person. If you have any concern, you can directly talk to him.
2. They revised benefits in 2014, as they were loosing so many employees, so they decided to do something about it.

Cons

1. Favoritism
2. Some Top level Managers are not supposed to be managers. They lack communication skills, basically not fit to be managers.
3. Long Work Hours (Think 10+ hours every day).
4. Below Average Compensation.
5. Terrible management. If you like micro-management, this is the place for you.
6. Nothing would get done with HR Department.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at your Managers. Because of few rotten tomatoes, whole company looks bad.

I have been working at REI Systems full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Professional Development Program
    Better Leave Benefits
    Better Medical Benefits
    Stock Options
Great Place to learn new technology
I would say it's an amazing place to work and learn new skills. Lot of brilliant people.
    Great Upper management
    Cool People
An Employee Driven Health Club and Electronics Club is a great idea

    Cons

Perception is some are managers because they are close to upper management not because they have skills. They lack soft and technical skills and also not good communicators. And that reflects clearly and poorly on REI. It's time they understand these project managers(98% of them) are not only bad influence on people but on company's reputation.
These project managers make people slog , deliver the project and get good business for you. But in the process you loose 3 good people and a bad bad reputation!

But upper management is doing a much better job which negates some of the harm done by others.
People are generally good in the company.
Overall it's a very positive company and is open to new ideas.
Lot of changes are beginning to happen and that is bringing some confidence on the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Clean up your project managers.
Hire people who have good soft skills or find people who are good in people management skills inside company.
You guys have amazing technical brains. You can use them better.

I have been working at REI Systems (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    - If you are good at what you do, you will be recognized and rewarded
    - Upper management is getting better at identifying the issues, problems and making every effort to solve it
    - So many initiatives have been taken in the last year to make an employee feel appreciated and recognized
    - Lot's of fun while working
    - Upper management is very open to hearing feedback (positive and negative)
    - Have been with the company for 5 years and not a single day has passed where I feel under-appreciated
    - Flexible working hours

    Cons

    - Few managers are not good people managers, but the upper management is taking strict action and making it their priority for 2014

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are, I have seen a HUGE difference in the last year, identifying the problems and focusing on solving them. Definitely moving in the right direction.
