For a menial job, the emphasis is strongly on speed, and speed alone.

Pros

Very flexible scheduling, as far as date, not with times.
Straightforward promotion system, with excellent information to let you know where you stand.
If you drive other people to job sites, mileage and travel time pay can be significant.

Cons

Pay scale at start, is essentially minimum wage. Opportunity for promotion is based entirely on scanning speed, which can be subject to favoritism based on assignment within stores.
Early start hours can be difficult for some people. Some stores start at 4 or 5am, and can often be an hour or more's drive away.
Not paid for first hour of commute each way, paid at minimum wage only for time over one hour, not at base rate.

I have been working at RGIS

    Pros

There are opportunities to make good money...you just have to keep up.

    Fun people to work with.

    Competent and experienced managers.

If you like to work early mornings and late nights, you will love this job. If not, you may still love this job.

Ability to quickly get a promotion and make a great salary.

Many have said you aren't reimbursed for travel. Not true. You are required to submit a travel log within 24 hours of your shift...if you follow that procedure, you get reimbursed handsomely. Also, if you really don't want to waste gas, carpools are another option.

    Cons

It can get repetitive and boring.

Driving is sometimes an hour or more, but carpools are arranged.

You feel like a sheep sometimes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

RGIS is the best in the business...there's not much you can do to make our job better. Sometimes equipment is faulty.

    Pros

They hire anyone. As long as you are not an ex-felon (maybe even then...) they will give you a job.

    Cons

No consistent hours, low pay, extensive non-reimbursed travel, you get yelled at if you try to go to the bathroom.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire some actually competent managers. Schedule whole groups of people for large blocks of time to provide more consistent hours.
