Former Employee - Inventory  in  Vallejo, CA
Former Employee - Inventory in Vallejo, CA

Pros

It's a job, You have ability to determine when to work. Easy, not physical, inside and fairly clean. Using a handheld scanner to scan bar codes, you have PM times in the day and most of the night that is free.

Cons

$8-9 hr start pay, max pay is $12. Because most employers do not want RGIS inventory when the store is open, 75% of all jobs begin at either 5 or 6 am and last between 2-6 hrs on average. The only other times, about 25%, jobs start at 9 or 10 pm. If you need AM hours, working night will not yield much income, so everyone has another PT job. The most hours worked is not more than 20 hrs\week. You receive a schedule every two weeks listing your jobs, if you refuse to go because they want you to drive 70 miles to work 2 hrs, you could get fired. Some districts are very large-70 miles distant. Income for two weeks averages not more than $200. There is little flexibility should your plans change during the work period schedule, so you cannot plan well, if you do not show up for the job, termination may result even if you explain it. Basically, once you set your work times, you are expected to show to the job.Although the employee handbook implies a worker can accept or not a job, that is not how it works

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow employees to chose the jobs assigned to them. There is usually others available. Make the districts smaller. Have smart scheduling for remote areas-at least have several jobs to make driving there cost effective.

Former Employee - Auditor in Fairfield, NJ

    Pros

Variety in the different locations. lots of shifts available

    Cons

Alot of driving. 2 hours of driving and 2 hours working- not worth it. Signed up for direct deposit on my first day- 2 months later still being paid thru a pay card. Breaks not regularly given but taken out of pay. coworkers frequently don't show putting more burden on everybody. working until 5 am

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

get more organized. emails go unanswered. Employees show up on time and are told we have to wait 1 hour to start. Time not actively working counts against employee performance. update your equipment/computers
