Current Employee - Director of Lab Strategy At Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, CA
Current Employee - Director of Lab Strategy At Kaiser Permanente in Oakland, CA

I have been working at RGP as a contractor (less than an year)

Pros

This company appropriately appraised my abilities and skills over multiple interviews. Listened to the types of projects I really wanted to work on and the qualities of the types of companies I wanted to work in. Found/made the perfect match. Paid me appropriately and then followed up to make sure the client was as happy as I was with the fit.

Cons

Their overall fees seem to not be as competitive as some other consulting firms, but that may be because they pay their people a little better and offer full benefits.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your marketing materials don't always convey RG's unique approach which seems to delight every manager who uses the company once they try you out. I've had a hard time getting others to consider you based on your website.

Current Employee - Associate in San Francisco, CA
Current Employee - Associate in San Francisco, CA

I have been working at RGP full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

While assigned to an active client work engagement, compensation and benefits are a liitle above normal market offerings. The company encourages their consultants to go above and beyond the typical contactor work tasks and create a value-addedd relationship.

Mostly high-level, short to mid-term project type work.

    Cons

Not a steady income - "no work = no pay" - be prepared for 2-3 months of "down-time" between working engagements.

Minimal reimbursement amount allocated for professional develpement and education. Almost enough to cover annual membership dues for one professional certification.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If they truly value the talent they have recruited, they would financially try to buffer consultants "Down-time" and increase professional development stimuli - maybe during 'Down-time"..
