I have been working at RS Components

Pros

Great team work, nice building in Singapore

Cons

Pay and benefits are crap

Advice to ManagementAdvice

make pay straucture more fair rather than on the ability of individuals to negotiate a good package on starting. Also globalise a standard benefits and rewards systems as the current one is unfair

I have been working at RS Components full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Good colleagues, good enviroment. Looks good for your CV and very multicultural experience.

    Cons

Non information, no strategy outside UK. If you want to progress in your carreer you have to be british or willing to move there, otherwise just forget it. Decitions centralized and no power to other markets. They still think that UK is the center of the world.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More comunication, empower people that makes good performance and not the ones you pick because they are your friends.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

Losing local talents - a UK based company that only provide career growth for Non Asian.

I have been working at RS Components

    Pros

Work life balance. Nice office in Singapore

    Cons

NO career growth if you are not British. Too many inexperience managers are given the leadership roles. Too UK mindset centric. Pretend to be trusting the local talent but when it comes to opportunities, it favouritism will comes for the British themselves,
Overly proud of UK culture and UK ways of doing things and not opened to the merit of Asian culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be aware of how much you have lossed the local talents.
If RS wants to be a successful as a global company, I would advise the senior management to be open minded and value the local talents. Changes pnly gives you hope but hope will not be achieved if you do not pick the right leaders who knows how to run the business in the region.
Because of the UK centric culture, some managers from UK have taken advantage of the situation and use perception that appeal to the British management to climb the ladder. Listen to the local talent more, values their experience even if it is different from UK experience way of doing things. There is a reason why the regional business in APAC is not growing to expectation (overly globalised the decision making and overtly rust the non Asian to run the business)

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
