Similar to other corporate structures. Except ironically it's blue collar. Figuratively and literally.

I have been working at RaceTrac Petroleum full-time (more than a year)

Pros

moderate room for advancement, decent starting wage, networking opportunities interacting with the public.
Given the right attitude, and perhaps marginal experience. A person with only a high school level education can potentially have a career without prior advance level training or education. Medical and Dental also aren't un reasonably priced, along with discount perks with racetrack affiliated companies.

Cons

workplace politics can be hard or SEEMINGLY impossible to overcome. Promotion within company has no real structure.Giving no guarantee of advancement. Is a fast paced, labor oriented workplace i.e. stand up job without a break guaranteed to you.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a better system to reward work results, ethic, and productivity. Rather than just who has preference from a given store manager when possible promotional opportunities arise . The 70'30 policy with employee staffing is a serious burden placed on the crew for each given shift. In short you've now demanded more productivity, with no additional or possibly less compensation for such. Can kind of wear on people whom may feel there work load can be exasperated given whom they work with in a given day.

I have been working at RaceTrac Petroleum full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Company culture is incredible! Fun, open, friendly environment where socializing and idea sharing are encouraged. Young company with several opportunities to choose from within the company. Easy access to upper management and executives (No one has an office including the CEO). Hire like minded people who represent the core values well. Really put a lot of energy into making sure employees are taken care of.

    Cons

Seems to be quite a bit of turnover in corparate due to people finding other opportunities else where. Hard to recieve pay increase without getting a promotion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at giving more competative salaries to keep good employees.
