Pros

- open lines of communication - only constructive criticism, there is never anyone yelling at you - Great support system with other store managers - great opportunities to build customer service skills

Cons

- hours not flexible if you're a manager - the hours you're allowed to schedule your kiosk for only allow you to have one employee. It doesn't feel like a "real" manager position when you only have one employee - the hours are terrible. Most people who want to purchase phones come earlier in the morning and some locations don't go into work until 1pm or later. The kiosk needs to be open earlier and close a littler earlier. - required to work friday-monday unless DM approves time off request - hourly pay isn't that great when compared with store manager from other cell phone companies - having the "kiosk" in an isle instead of actually having a "legit" kiosk isn't reassuring to consumers - harder to sell to people because they're more than likely shopping for things other than cell phones -relationship between Target and Radioshack can be really bad. Target can make your sales life heaven or a complete disaster - COMMISSION: it's been changed so that if you aren't hitting either $80 per hour or $155 per hour in sales you only get paid a penny for each phone you sell. If you're at a location that doesn't have a lot of traffic then you're pretty much just an hourly employee and not getting any commission.

Advice to Management

The only real issue is the commission. Everything else could be tolerated if you weren't being insulted with only getting 1 penny for a phone transaction that may have been complicated. Lets say an employee had to spend 30 min convincing a customer to even consider buying a phone, discussing their options, actually doing the transaction in the store systems which can take a long time, and then showing the person how to use their phone for a total of about 1.5 hours and you only got paid a penny, what would that do to employee morale and dedication? In larger stores where they just have the walk up traffic its not a big deal, but for a smaller location that is just devastating.

  1. Tough place to work but if you have product knowledge you would do fine, pay is worse then fast food.

    Pros

My store is a bright, clean, well organized store. Oppurtunities to give great customer service. Enough down time to keep it looking good.

    Cons

It is a performance based pay scale, and if your area does not do well on cell phone sales your employees will not make any more then minimum wage. They make the employees push sales on the customer.

    Advice to Management

Up the hourly wage for districts that cannot sell cell phones, find something else to focus on in those stores.

    Pros

    - Hourly plus Commission - Employee Cell Phone Plan - Flexible Schedule for Part-time employee - Learn a lot about the different electronics

    Cons

    - Excessive planogram changes - Unrealistic expectations at times - Not enough training - Sell a cell phone or you most likely won't make the goals for the day.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employee suggestions. Boost morale. Don't belittle your workers. Change the name of the store. We barely sell any Radios.
