depending on the store you work for, the management can be very helpful, you have a weekly coaching which lets you know where you are, where they'd like you to be, where you could be, it's all laid out in front of you, I really enjoy the customer service aspect of radioshack, it is all about the customer, when a customer walks into my store, I greet them and ask them what they need, and they are happy to let me know, as well as to recommend solutions as well.
it's a good company, excellent show-room style stores.. good location to customers... the pay can be adequate, nothing to write home about... but it's rewarding, and ultimately you can go into management, another thing is..
the training as in all retail locations, is atrocious, but the staff and management are happy to mentor you if you show initiative..
all in all, I feel it is a positive experience.
Cons
i'd say the pay, unless your moving serious cellular phones, or dish network, or getting your performance spiffs... you can end up making minimum some days.. that being said... all sales is like this, and at radioshack it is not 100% comission ... so in a bad economy.. it is an excellent job... and as I said, management possibilities... that may off-set the pay...
Advice to Senior Management
pay your employees the way employees are paid in wireless stores... 9-10 an hour base, plus allow them the performance spiffs.. and comissions... you'd get a more professional staff.... that being said.. the staff in my store is top-notch... and my manager is very skilled ...
