I worked at RadioShack full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good products, loyal customers, nice discount, stay on top of new products

    Cons

As a manager, you have no work/home balance. Expected to work 6 days a week, practically every holiday, several nights a week; etc. Pay kept going down instead of up; it seems whenever you started to make money, corporate would reconfigure pay so that managers and associates would make less money. Inconsistent paychecks. The health care benefits didn't cover much. They would go through upper management, including CEO, every few months. The death of the company has been on watch for many years now, it has surprised many that they are still alive. The push to make every customer a cellular/wireless customer and to add them to the database really turns off a lot of people, as well as the service plans. DM's make it out as you are very bad people if a customer says no to whatever the currently being pushed offer is. Ethics of most of the DM's very low, which therefore makes many managers and associates become less than truthful. Saw it for many years, so I so the devolution of the company. A once good place to work for, but that was a long time ago. As they say in Monty Python, Run Away!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually let store management make decisions, don't micromanage every little thing. Let a manager manage.
