I have been working at RadioShack full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Fun atmosphere. Most of the people are great to work with.

Cons

High turnover. At the sales associate level: They pay minimum wage, no matter how long you've been there. Constantly changing commission & the goals you have to meet to achieve it. No raises whatsoever. This includes if you become a key holder/person in charge. During the short period they had Assistant Mgrs, they only pay them $8.40/hr. To make up for the raise in pay, you get less commission than the sales associates. Therefore, the pay still equals the same. Even the store managers don't make what you would think is fair, for holding such a position. They dangle the possibility of corporate jobs in front of you. They tell you you can work your way into positions. Even if you are qualified for the position, it is not what you know. It's who you know.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give yearly raises for doing a good job, & for holding positions of higher responsibility. Quit blowing money on things that don't help the company. If less was blown, it could be spent on paying the employees.

    Pros

Chill environment, associates are cool, at least it is a job.

    Cons

Low pay, commission is mere pennies 2%, management is always down your back on factors that you really can't control, Store is phone driven should be called the PhoneShack. In addition, pay is every 2 weeks and you are forced to make a low paycheck last another 2 weeks. This is a job to keep you afloat until you FIND A BETTER ONE.

I worked at RadioShack full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Mainly because of the high turnover there are many advancement opportunities. It really is hard to find 20 good words to say.

    Cons

I worked for this company for over a year and found it horrible.
I was never able to take time off without being hassled or denied.
The benefits package offered by the company was pitiful and over priced.
Sales expectations had no reflection on market conditions.
Management pay scale is a minimal uptick from sales associate, in fact many people stay sales associates because the ridiculous expectations put on store management isn't worth the pay.
From the top down this company's sole motivator is fear.
