    I have been working at Rady Children's Hospital full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Only Children's Hospital in the area.

    Cons

    Impossible to change anything! Practices are outdated, equipment is outdated and there is never enough. Understaffed. Hospital does not provide enough support for parents.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Train managers, support change, support new ideas and purchase enough equipment to allow us to do our jobs!

    I worked at Rady Children's Hospital

    Pros

    * Great skilled medical staff who are passionate about their work with children.
    * Great campus
    * Great goodies provided to employees on a regular basis

    Cons

    * Too much bureaucracy to get things done---take months/years to make any changes
    * No work/life balance for many (particularly management)
    * Too much micromanaging at the very top--creates bottlenecks which is why hard to make changes.
    * Too often the focus of management seems to be to catch people doing something wrong vs helping them succeed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    * Be honest with people
    * Trust people to do their jobs, don't micromanage. If they don't perform, then address.
