Former Employee - Rehabilitation Assistant in Ypsilanti, MI
Former Employee - Rehabilitation Assistant in Ypsilanti, MI

I worked at Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers full-time (more than an year)

Pros

There's not much chance of being laid off, they're always looking for people, the job is paid well for the work, it's rewarding to work with people who need your help, they listen to requests to move houses if need be.

Cons

No real chance for upward mobility, inflexibility in hours and scheduling (at least at the house I was in), upper management did not listen to the voices of the rehab assistants in the houses

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to the requests, advice, and words of wisdom from the rehabilitation assistants, who are in the houses working directly and closely with the clients.

Former Employee - Rehabilitation Assistant in Ypsilanti, MI

I worked at Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

It's rewarding. Scheduling is very flexible. Salaries and salary increases are significant compared to similar companies. Company is generous with holiday party and summer picnic. Extremely generous 401k matching. Good benefit program.

    Cons

Rehabilitation assistants are extremely under appreciated by upper management. Entry level staff's opinions are not asked for nor valuable. They work the frontlines, so to speak, and should play an important role in certain circumstances.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your RAs and respect their opinions.

I have been working at Rainbow Rehabilitation Centers

    Pros

the company works around your school schedule or your able to work strictly weekends and concentrate on college during the week.
depending on your assignment you may be attending to a patient for 8 hours to include cooking, cleaning, and helping them with daily activities.
    or driving patients to appointments

    Cons

no shift differential pay for working afternoons, midnights or weekends!!!
very low pay even if you have a degree

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

if you want to keep good staff and continue to receive quality applicants provide better pay that's in line with inflation expenses and provide "shift differential" for personal on afternoons, nights and weekends or your company will continue to be a revolving door for workers
