Great Culture but Lacks Room for Growth

I worked at Random House full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Wonderful people, books, and environment. RH is a fun and dynamic place to work and the benefits are the best out there! There is really a community feeling and the company encourages a good work/life balance. The authors are incredible and books are the best.

    Cons

Low pay, small raises, and very slow upward mobility. Management is cliquey and Directors never leave their positions so the next level of employees don't have much room to grow. Even with title promotions, the job responsibilities remain the same, so there isn't a very strong learning curve. There is also a wide spread feeling that the only way to get a good raise is via finding a new job and counter-offers.
