I worked at Rapid7 full-time for less than a year

Pros

Free snacks, cool office, and exciting industry

Cons

No job security or respect for each other. Honesty, integrity and kindness are hard to come by in this office. Don't bother asking questions or for help with something, because it will make you look weak to your manager and team. There's still a lot of changes and kinks in the company path and culture, many changes to many teams that are not always good or for the better. Motto said amongst most employees is Rapid Hire Rapid Fire.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication and Respect for employees is important. A lot of private conversations among managers about the team, without actually keeping the team in the loop. Employees should have a better idea how they are perceived by their manager and if they are not meeting expectations rather than being blindsided. Open communication on performance would be beneficial on a regular basis.

    I have been working at Rapid7 full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - great products
    - goal oriented company
    - cool working location
    - good salary when performing on or over target
    - great brand
    - awesome parties after exhibitions
    - travel to prospects & customers

    Cons

    - political hornet's nest
    - lack of trust in their employees and questioning them through others
    - ethics are below standard
    - incredible high churn of people
    - they really don't care about their employees
    They don't even say goodbye to their top performers who are leaving R7. "See ya" is all they get.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Middle and higher management should lead by example regarding ethics.
    Don't “bribe” employees to write positive reviews on sites like this after cool company events

    Pros

    You will learn about some very interesting security solutions that are relevant.

    In addition if you are given a good territory assignment you could be talking to executives at prestigious companies, it is good exposure if you are into the market and understand how the products add value.

    Cons

    If you do not fit their mold you will quickly feel like you are not a valued member.

    In addition I have to agree with previous comments, in the past managers would tell you that you would be working an 8-5, in which time you could be making over 100 cold calls a day, however if you left at 5pm you will get called out on it.

    The way they handle terminations is like a cookie cutter, they will rinse and repeat using the same technique.

    It almost feels like they will lock onto your first mistake and hammer it home, making you feel like they are trying to get you to become a better employee, when in reality you now have to maneuver your career with a target over your head.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Please don't make "friends" with managers, low-level employees see past this very quickly.
