I have been working at Raytheon BBN Technologies as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

Collegial environment, lots of fun activities and events, good place to have interesting research. People here ,especially manager, are really working hard and leading the group well. Interns have their own cubes.

Cons

Some of the research groups are lack of funding and ultimately.

I worked at Raytheon BBN Technologies as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Collegial environment, and ideal place to do very interesting research. Publishing is encouraged, and research collaborations can be extended well past the internship. Oh, and PhD interns get their own offices!

    Cons

Overt dependence on the defense research budget. With the recents cuts, some groups are suffering for the lack of funding. However, they recognize this and are expanding into non-defense areas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue diversifying away from the US DoD funding sources.

I worked at Raytheon BBN Technologies (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees given lots of latitude to run with their ideas. Most employees have offices. Flexible schedules are accommodated. The culture is very much like grad school for good and bad.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunity for upward mobility. It can get a little cliquish. Since Raytheon acquired BBN, there has been resentment as the parent company has introduced more bureaucracy.

    No opinion of CEO
