Government contracting can be tricky, layoffs if no work is available because a contract ends

    Pros

I can only speak for the Aurora, CO division. Other sites may be better environments. Benefits are good (not great) for a family life. Good starter company to gain experience and resume builder. Access to world travel opportunities within the company

    Cons

Promotion, past entry to mid-level, is thru attrition and nepotism not actual skill. Management beats down motivation and buries the self-starters with bureaucracy and procedure. Takes 5 times the effort to do simple projects. Quickly burn out trying to find any accomplishment within your job. Management uses procedure to cover up incompetence. High turn over rate.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the dead weight in the middle to upper management. Projects and programs are obnoxiously top heavy in managers. Open up to newer ideas and technologies and stop road-blocking them with piles of procedure and excuses. Cut (not eliminate) the power of the accountants to dictate engineering decisions.
