Raytheon – “It's a tough market, but I hope you can do better”

Pros

Raytheon offered me a reliable paycheck, so I had that going for me, which is nice. They do have a decent tuition reimbursement package, and I doubt that they'll fold - something that's not often said about companies in Southeast Michigan right now. Also, they throw decent parties.

Cons

The problem is, it was pure drudgery. Morale is low in all departments. There is no real room for advancement. Working overtime (or overnight) is the norm - but you won't get paid for it.

Advice to Senior Management

Provide more acknowledgement of good work. Be careful of who you promote - don't base that on seniority as much as quality.
