Current Employee - Principal Systems Engineer in El Segundo, CA
Current Employee - Principal Systems Engineer in El Segundo, CA

I have been working at Raytheon full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Lots of interesting projects, a very diverse workforce, and reasonable work/life balance. The smart engineers are very smart. ATEP (Advanced Technical Education Program) classes are taught by engineering fellows or aspiring fellows in diverse subject areas and open to all employees.

Cons

A bureaucratic organization. Security clearances make it difficult for average workers (non-superstars) to switch projects or teams easily. Unknown outlook because of sequester.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bridge the gulf between engineering and other disciplines - contracts, legal, and program management.
