    Pros

Raytheon's thousands of programs provide diversity. No one program loss or cancellation will have a significant impact on the whole company. Raytheon has excellent processes and controls around Earned Value and program finance.

    Cons

Earned value and the program finance skills you will learn at Raytheon or any of the other Defense companies do not transition easily to the commercial world.

    Pros

Good compensation competitive within the industry and geographic location. Corporate leaders have established a good set of values. There are some great technologies in this company's portfolio.

    Cons

Many of the company leaders are too risk averse. Though the company has niche products, it's not willing to do what it takes to go after competitors' business that can take it to the next level. The work/life balance needs to improve. In my experience, too many people are expected to work well beyond 40 hours per week with no additional compensation or labor accounting.

    Advice to Management

Overall management style needs to evolve to suit new work methods or they stand to have difficulty attracting the best young talent. More collaboration/ ownership, less autocracy.
