Pros

Committed to diversity. Has won awards for LGBT support. Opportunities for flexible work schedules to include 9/80 and some telecommuting.

Cons

Some parts of the company/older generation still subject to top down management. Very large company of 64,000 means there are inevitable areas of waste and mismanagement. Current atmosphere is challenging due to dwindling defense budgets.

    Pros

Many world-class challenges and projects. Some great teams of people in many aspects of the companies operation. Wide variety of jobs and locations. Tech leaders in many areas.

    Cons

Large organization with many policies, procedures, and guidelines which can sometimes be hard to navigate. Budgeting can be quirky, leading to some terrible dilemmas in the use of obsolete tools and instruments

    Advice to Management

Chart a constant course with clear priorities, bring all levels of the team of 80,000 people into the game. Improve efforts at young/early career staff retention. Quit being just a "resume builder" for bright young people.
