I worked at Raytheon full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Pay, hours, sense of pride in serving the country without being in the military. Most hourly positions are bargaining unit, so the quality of life is always negotiable.

Cons

Management is always on a revolving door. Some inexperience and incompetence in management.

Former Employee - Senior Software Engineer in Fort Wayne, IN

I worked at Raytheon full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, stimulating work, genuine passion for quality and value

    Cons

Defense industry is still 70% of the portfolio and even though the business is well positioned in the market, neglect of this legitimate function of the federal government has forced business restructuring and downsizing. The company is way past using reduction in force to eliminate dead wood and is forced to eliminate excellent performers. Good performance evaluations are no guarantee of longevity with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay the course. Remain true to ethics. Stay in touch with the good workers you have lost (invite me to the picnic like a retiree). Remember that this too shall pass.
