Pros

It's a paycheck and your job is not outsourced overseas

Cons

People here are not top notch and do not respond well to change.
Company doesn't care about the employees
Contracts are short and you have no idea where you are going next - not secure.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to quit cutting benefits and get real about when to close the plant. It doesn't matter how bad the weather is - employees are still expected to come into work. Upper management doesn't get affected since they can work remotely which is not an option for most employees.

    Pros

Company has some great people and fantastic learning opportunities. The company has some very strong and talented individuals that can be great to work with. There is a lot to learn at this company in many areas. Their course portfolio and commitment to continuing development is fantastic. Very good work life balance. Outstanding benefits and more than fair compensation and benefits.
The company business space and products can be quite inspiring. Developing products to help our warfighters, lends itself to a cultural sense of pride in the work that Raytheon does and it's openly discussed as such.
I would recommend this company to a friend depending on what they are looking for from an employer.

    Cons

Very politically charged environment. Promotions and advancement seem to be based more on ones political gamesmanship and ability to schmooze within the right circles. An absolute popularity contest. There seems to be numerous lists of people better than the unwashed masses ;-) "Leadership Development Program," "Ninjas," "Presidents Culture Initiative," [insert flavor of the month here]. While these things aren't bad in and of themselves they do betray a cultural sense of exclusivity that is unattainable to most, including many top performers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to the actual work getting done and where it comes from. Spend less time admiring powerpoints and find out who is doing the heavy lifting. You will be rewarded with increased efficiency and better margins.

    Pros

Structured environment, somewhat stable in this environment

    Cons

Company contracts aren't growing much outside of missile systems, leaving little room for professional growth aside from people leaving, benefit cuts to non-management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce your bidding rates. There are a lot of people that don't really serve a useful function (i.e. safety officer that can't help employees who work onsite and send out annoying weekly safety tips). Also, HR only does the bare bones - several employees in addition to myself tried to contact them on both phone and email with questions. No response.

    No opinion of CEO
